Absa Bank Wraps Up Customer Service Week with Play Your Cards Right Campaign Winners Reveal.

Absa Bank Tanzania has reaffirmed that excellence in customer service is deeply embedded in its culture and reflected in its day-to-day operations.

Speaking during the closing ceremony of the bank’s 2025 customer service week, the Absa’s Managing Director, Mr. Obedi Laiser, emphasized the financial institution’s unwavering commitment to delivering exceptional customer experiences, highlighting the global theme for this year’s celebration, “Mission: Possible,” noting its strong alignment with Absa’s purpose — Empowering Africa’s tomorrow, together… one story at a time — and its brand promise, ‘Your Story Matters’.

While many service providers treat Customer Service Week as a one-off effort, Absa Bank Tanzania emphasized that customer service excellence is embedded in its culture and is lived every day.

Mr. Laiser also used the occasion to announce the first winners of the bank’s new campaign, Play Your Cards Right (Ujanja ni kuSwipe na Kadi ya Absa), launched last week to encourage customers to adopt safe, secure, faster, and convenient digital payment channels. The campaign will reward customers with TZS 120 million in cash prizes over three months.

The first-week winners are:

· Mr. Hans Cosmas Ngoteya

· Mr. Shaaban Mbarouk Shaaban

· Ms. Jennifer Lovisa Lindgren

· Mr. Gerald Shita Nangi

· Ms. Neguine Akram Aziz

· Digicash Tanzania Limited

Each weekly winner receives TZS 500,000 credited directly to their Absa account.

“Most organizations treat Customer Service Week as a ‘show’; Absa lives it every day. Customer Service is embedded in Absa Bank’s culture; it’s not an act but a way of doing business,” said Mr. Laiser. “Our customers are at the heart of everything we do, and this campaign is one way of rewarding their loyalty while promoting safer and more efficient ways of transacting. For us, Customer Service Week is not a performance — it is a reflection of who we are.”

Absa Bank Tanzania was recently recognized by Consumer Choice Awards Africa as the bank offering the most friendly and tranquil loan services in Tanzania, further underscoring its commitment to service excellence.

Mr. Laiser thanked Absa staff for living the brand promise and delivering exceptional customer experiences, and he expressed gratitude to customers for their loyalty. He also encouraged customers to continue to transact through their cards and digital channels for their chance to win cash prizes.

Absa’s “Play your cards right” campaign has a total of 72 weekly winners who will each walk away with half a million shillings, 3 monthly winners (9 in total) who will each walk away with TZS 10m, TZS 5m, and TZS 3m respectively, and the Grand Winner at the end of the 3 months campaign, who will pocket TZS 30m. All these prizes are cash money (NOT equivalent).
